Professional Accomplishments
Farzad Moussavi has served as CBA Dean since 2001 with prior appointments as Associate Dean and Head of the Management Department. Under Moussavi's leadership the CBA has established a strong international presence with an MBA program in Hong Kong and expanded strategic alliances with business schools in France, Germany, Russia, Austria and China. In addition, the College has pursued an aggressive agenda designed to secure alternative sources of funding, maintain its tradition of teaching excellence while raising its scholarly profile, contribute to Iowa's economic vitality, and establish a distinct strategic identity.
Dean Moussavi's areas of research include management theory and organizational analysis. He has published in selective academic journals and made presentations to academic and professional audiences around the globe. Dean Moussavi presented his latest work in June 2009 at the Network Ethics Conference in Lisbon, Portugal. Conference papers are under consideration for a special issue of The Journal of Business Ethics.
Having served as a management consultant in the past, Dean Moussavi currently directs his attention to academic administration, volunteering to consult with business schools aspiring to meet higher international standards. Most recently, he has worked with the Plekhenov Academy in Moscow, Moscow Linguistics University, Shanghai Dianji University, and Hopkins Education Group in Hong Kong, China.
Dean Moussavi organizational analysis seminars have provided professional development training for corporate executives, engineers, academic administrators, new managers, and first-line supervisors.
